ARIZONA'S CHILDREN ARE NOT FOR SALE

We petition the Arizona legislature to strengthen the laws that protect all our children (up through the age of 17) from being prostituted. Currently, prostituted children ages 15, 16 and 17 are inadequately protected in Arizona. We call on our leaders to END THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN YOUNGER AND OLDER CHILD VICTIMS under AZ law. Give our police and justice system the tools they need to safeguard ALL our children- WHATEVER THEIR AGE.

The Problem

Child sex trafficking is a serious threat to Arizona’s children. Phoenix is a major hub for this activity and victims come from every sector of society. Our laws do not adequately protect trafficked kids from predators and pimps. Arizona’s children are at risk!
The Solution

Stronger laws that hold pimps and their customers accountable! Sex trafficking of U.S. citizens persists because it is high profit and low risk. Individuals willing to buy sex create a market, making it profitable for traffickers to sexually exploit children and adults. When there are ineffective or dormant laws to address the crime, traffickers perceive little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. (Source: Polaris Project)
